Midnight Plane to Houston...Or Not!

He was born March 17, 1943. He would attend the University of Mississippi, where he would play quarterback. But than choose to stay on the gridiron, Jim Weatherly would choose the career of songwriter. Sure, he recorded a few country songs, but his fame came from the pop charts. Gladys Knight & the Pips would record "Neither One of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye). "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" were great hits. But changing "Midnight Plane to Houston" to "Midnight Train to Georgia" produced a beautiful song that would top the charts. Here's what happened, in Weatherly's own words.
